Another instance, which has applied to me and I'm sure others as well, is operating in the 80m CC while away on holiday and (quite deliberately) out of e-mail contact for a few days! I had a refreshing pint after the contest too.

Except that our contest robot tends to get overloaded for the first 
hour after the end of CC events and is somewhat slow to respond. There 
are also many reasons why it is not possible to meet such deadlines. 
For the June CC I operated from our club station - since I wanted to 
enjoy a refreshing pint afterwards there was no way I could sort out 
the entry till the following morning...

(and yes, I know some of you are permanently on line and submitting 
your contacts in real time).
