[UK-CONTEST] NFD

This is not the only WEEKEND contest that seems to have suffered from the general lack of activity. Although weekday events and international events still attract a large following. Some thoughts as to why:-
 
1) Weather
2) Weather (British bank holiday type)
3) Domestic demands (only days to interact with family and go shopping)
4) Economic circumstances (can't afford the fuel to go anywhere, or for generators)
5) General aging demographics for Amateurs (this is an age old problem , please excuse the pun)
6) Higher and higher CW speeds put the less experienced ops. off (not all of us have the ear at 30+ wpm , including myself)
7) Youngsters use their thumbs (texting) its easier
8) Time pressures of the age 
9) Technology gap between the top contesters and the rest 
10) Other contests the same weekend (UKSMG etc. and a HF phone contest)
11) Last but not least Jubilee celebrations and street parties (I had a family BBQ (soggy type) to attend, Grandchildren etc.)
 
All of the above affect us in different ways.  I admit it has been donkeys years since I helped on an HF field day, and now easily have the land space to do it again, but I'm now retired and find easier ways to entertain myself.  I did though give points away to 100 stations calling for FD over the weekend.
