....it was a tongue in cheek comment, given the other topical discussion
about the usefulness of signal reports in contests....... I guess some
didn't twig.

Oh dear, this reflector has now degenerated into a anti-anti-contest 
one. There are lots of reasons why people don't like contests and their 
views do need to be recognised. We should not slate them for their 
opinions.

There are times when I feel like joining them. Although I participate 
and enjoy many of the major contest events, the way some of the minor 
ones take over the bands at weekends annoys me immensely. Especially 
those that are largely supported by the Eastern Europeans, and the 
dreaded WSEM ones. I don't ragchew much but I enjoy chasing the juicy 
DX - when the band is full of Eu working Eu and the dx has gone away to 
wherever I find little enthusiasm for the hobby.
