One or two of us on VHF have suggested that both parties receive a UBN for any alleged error. At least that way the "culprit" will know he's caused someone to lose 
points, albeit inadvertently. 

I got a UBN for a keyboard error at the other end, I actually received 57 on SSB, don't do CW yet, and the sending station sent 57 but entered 557, possibly key bounce, 
and hardly a common report. I confirmed this with the other party, he'd been using a mixed mode setting in the logger, so it accepted 557 and was not noticed at the time.

Many thanks for the UBNs for CW AFS. I was dismayed to find I had 
miscopied three serial numbers, way below the 'YMC standard. But rather 
more puzzling was my QSO with G4ODA who clearly sent me 559 (which I 
would have had to positively enter while logging) but apparently his 
log claims he sent me 599. Surely if you send somebody 559 you make 
damned sure that the log you submit states this...

I assume even though this error was due to his log keeping we both lose 
points?
