I had 3 QSOs with ZL3GQ in 1976/7 from my previous QTH with 10W into a
180ft longwire and HB transverter. It can be done (recording of that
QSO at http://my.opera.com/davews/blog/).
In my very early days I used a lightbulb as a dummy load with my old
Top Band AM rig. One day I was testing into the dummy load and was
called by a local 10 miles away who wondered what I was doing as I was
s9 with him..
