Log checking reports have now been sent out to all entrants.
I wasn't too happy with my own score reduction of 6.1% although seeing that the median reduction is more than 9% gives me a little comfort.
When I analise my log I find the majority of errors are due to typo's or alterations made mainly during the contact with numbers/ letters in the wrong order. Not so many busted calls but too many busted serials and I know I have a problem during S&P when I call the next stn having failed to 'enter the last one when the new call covers the s/n of the last contact. I must try to configure some 'F' keys for S&P to avoid this. What do others do?
I see that we have to wait a further 6 months for publication of the results, really unacceptable in this day and age. Whilst I reckon that Randy does a brilliant job with wpx, in so many ways better than the ww committee, he is lagging in this respect in not being able to get CQ Mag to bring forward the publishing date.
73 Brian 5B4AIZ.
Below are Randy's comments.
We did a deeper level of log checking this year than ever before. There were
22,107 QSOs with unique callsigns among the 2,835,110 QSOs. 83.8% of those
unique QSOs were determined to be incorrect. The median score reduction was
9.4%. WPX is usually a little higher than other contests since many busted
calls create prefix multipliers.
Thanks to everyone who participated in WPX CW 2012. The official results
will appear in the March 2013 issue of CQ Magazine and on the CQ WPX Contest
web site www.cqwpx.com.
