No problem with GTC, CA QSO Party and TRC - they're all 'work anyone' events 
and participants will be happy to QSO if you send the exchange THEY need as 
well as the RSGB exchange and just log what they send you.
Stations don't have to be 'in' RSGB contests for you to work them for points 
and multipliers.  I imagine it's because some less-experienced Gs don't know 
this and weren't sending the right info that you were encountering some 
sniffiness.  I had a couple question whether I was TRC or not ... I just 
said "Yes".  Not only does this get you points for our contest, you can also 
extract the QSOs and enter their contests as well!
