I also think it is good value. I travelled with Dave G3ZQH and we shared a room at a cost of £81.50 each. That included day tickets for both days
which gave access to all the presentations, meeting and chatting with old friends, free coffee (beer extra!), overnight accommodation, a good sized
breakfast and the Gala Dinner with over 200 attendees.
What is obvious is that the whole event has become too big and has lost its character. Any criticisms I have of the venue are directly attritutable to
the fact that it was over-subscribed.
Yvonne and I always looked forward to the HF Convention at ICL Beaumont. Like Ed, GW3SQX, I had to put a lot of time and effort into the HF contest
forum and presentation of the HF trophies but there was always a sense of satisfaction. I sensed this was not the case this time.
I suspect the time has come for a re-think of both this event and the combined Contest Committee.

For this I got a small but high quality room, entrance to the convention itself on both days, the Gala dinner on Saturday evening and taxi transfers from and to Milton Keynes rail station which would have cost me £20 each way. Oh, and I enjoyed an hour in the pool while waiting to be taken to the station on Sunday afternoon.
