I think the duration is about right.

If pressed, I suppose half an hour earlier starting, and half an hour
earlier finishing would be more convenient - but that wouldn't suit everyone
and it's not a big deal.

I tend to use the last half hour to try to eek out multipliers I know I
should have worked. It is quite frustrating to know that the square was
active earlier, but has gone QRT before the end.

Also, I do find there is just enough spare time to exchange the occasional
greeting or comment in addition to the basic contest exchange. If the
contest were shortened, I'd feel unable to do this, and my overall enjoyment
would diminish. Perhaps adding these "extra comments" is my downfall :-(

With ever-increasing activity, the UKAC formula seems to be working, and so
it would seem best not to tinker with it.
