[UK-CONTEST] Contest awareness.

So just what is the point of all this desire for training of young blood they have tried so hard to promote with the club competitions, 80mtr cc's etc if they offer nothing further to progress to.?

Logically the 21/28 is an ideal next step offering the excitement of international exchanges on bands that  do not require demanding antennas, and actually being wanted and sought out as a plain 'G' stn, they won't find that anywhere else! A great opportunity to hone hf skills without the furore of a full blown event  where beginners can get disheartened.

As the last remaing hf event on the calandar, the Society and the clubs should be striving to promote it and not bemoaning decreasing numbers of logs which is mainly a consequence of the state of the sunspot cycle.

Before killing it off make a concerted effort at publicity, I am reminded of the two shoe companies who sent out salesmen to Africa. Company A recieved a mail ' Arrange return flight, they do not wear shoes out here'.
Company B recieved a mail ' Send as many samples as you can, they don't wear shoes out here'.

Remember that the HFCC tried hard to zap this one and it was only
reprieved following an outcry on this reflector.  So I'm not sure anyone
there is likely to bust a gut on it's behalf!

See you there!
