[UK-CONTEST] use of phonetics in contests

I'm glad to see that I'm not alone in considering some of the NATO phonetics
a poor choice under weak signal conditions. Those phonetics with soft
phonemes simply don't travel well and parties at the receiving end are
unable to hear them, regardless how hard they might try. Phonetics with
harder phonemes travel better and are more likely to be heard.

We sometimes resort to G Zero Very High Frequency, when the standard
phonetics don't get through. What is disappointing is the number of
operators who STILL don't get it !

Yes I use G6RC (Crawley RC callsign) is some contests
and am often asked for the last letter.
G5LK (Reigate club call) seems to fare better.
