[VHFcontesting] CW

There are two really good ideas here - A CW VUCC and a separate CW VHF
Contest.
Given the amount of CW activity on 6 today and the value of CW on 2M up for
weak tropo contacts, I think that the contest would be a success.

Now we need a sponsor...

     >> So far we have discussed several things that could enhance CW
operation during a contest.
Let me preface my comments by saying that I am primarily a CW operator.
I also participate
in HF cw contests and as many VHF contests as I can afford the time to.
I don't participate
too heavily in HF fone contests, though some from time to time.

     >> 1. Educate operators that CW is a better mode to use than SSB for
weak signal work.
This is certainly a valid point, but the most difficult of these to
accomplish.

     >> 2. Give additional points in the contest for CW contacts.
I have always liked this about Field Day. I operate QRP/CW and
generally get good results. However, I am not as convinced
that this is the right answer for VHF contests. I would certainly make
more of an effort on CW, but I already make a big effort
    on CW

    3. Create a different category for CW and SSB in addition to the current
MIXED mode.
Any others and did I leave any out?
I believe that dividing CW and SSB would leave slim pickings even
slimmer.

     >> How about a completely separate CW only VHF contest?
Though I would like it to be different, in my heart I feel that there
would be little participation in a VHF+ CW
contest. The contest pickings are already slim in DM79/DN70, dividing
the pickings would only make them
    thinner.

    IDEA:
Add VUCC awards for CW. This would encourage people to chase these and
contests are great places to
    chase awards.
