I have used a hb two element reflector beam as my rovering antenna for
several years.  This was after an attempt to build a two element director
beam.  The main advantage of a two element reflector beam is the simplicity
of direct feed.  Use a split driven element with a spacing of about three
feet.  Then just attach the coax directly to it.  The SWR will be about 1.4
to 1.  A director beam, on the other hand,  will require a matching device
of some kind as it's input impedance will be below twenty ohms.  The main
disadvantage, as other have pointed out, is a loss of gain vs. a close
spaced director beam.  I seem to remember it on the order of a db or so.
