Greetings,
I'm offering for sale an aluminum pneumatic telescopic mast. Some of you
recall the one NT4L/rover used in our rover van, Buttercup; this is the
one, plus spare parts.
The mast: collapsed it measures 7'-10" tall, extended it is ~28'. There are
four sections that extend, the lower section is 5-1/4" OD. The mast weighs
~80 lbs. It is a military surplus item, which I've not been able to locate
more of in some six years of efforts. It is very well made. We used scuba
tanks as an air source to charge the mast. ~14 PSI is sufficient to raise
the mast fully, and one scuba tank is good for 10+ lifts. There are two
1/4" FPT ports in the base for air inlet/outlet.
The sections of the mast are slotted & keyed along the length of the tubes
so that rotating the lower section turns the entire mast. The top of each
section is fitted with an "L" bracket made of 3-1/2" wide x 3/16" thick
6061-T6 angle aluminum for attaching antennas and or cross booms.
Included is a steel adaptor which clamps to the bottom of the mast and fits
into a standard rotator and passes the air connections, plus a steel rotor
base plate bored for Hy-Gain rotors. Also included is a second mast of the
same design, missing a couple of sections, plus a new set of seals
(commonly available & easy to install), seal lubricant, and spare Teflon
material for the keys in the channels. Pictures available via E-mail.
I can deliver the mast & accessories to the SVHFS conference in Atlanta, or
Hamvention. The price for the lot is $1000.00, slightly negotiable. I will
assist in designing and fabricating the necessary apparatus to install the
mast in purchaser's application. I will consider a trade for radio
gear...what do you have to offer? A FT-1000 MP would be nice...
Thanks,
