[VHFcontesting] Rover mileage costs not factored

The records of driving costs for rovers here is most interesting. In contrast, I have never at any time kept track of any costs associated with driving my Rovermobile. Like all other vehicles I owned, I drove gently for the first tank of gas to see the potential the vehicle had for economy. Then reverted back to my usual less-than-economical driving habits.

So often I am asked how much all the antennas on top of the vehicle affect the gas mileage and the honest answer is....dunno. But I will say that I drive fully loaded on top at speeds of 120 km/h or about 75 mph and test everything at 140 kmh or 85 mph too. And the Toyota Sienna LE still has lots of pep and acceleration fully loaded too with a 3.3 liter engine.

I have in the past covered 4 grids, but may cover as many as 8 this time. Past driving amounted to anywhere from 140 to 180 miles total. This contest could see more than 300 miles travelled over the 2 days.

Nothing quite like spending my kids inheritance.

If you can't afford it, don't do it!

73,
