Being tempered by the snowy weather conditions this weekend (and boy is it
snowing at my home QTH right now!), WB8BZK/R will be roving the January VHF
contest starting out at Hillcrest Park (old Nike site) in EN53va Waukesha, WS
just west of Milwaukee. I'll operate from there for about two hours at the
start of the contest then move a few miles east to Wick Field Park to operate
from EN63ab until about 2300Z.
I'll drive down to Nichol Knoll EN62ad in Arlington Hts, IL where I will
operate from about 0130Z for the rest of the evening.
Sunday morning I will set up at about 1400Z on a ridge near Plato Center, IL
which is just west of Elgin, IL. I'll operate for two hours from EN52sa
followed by another two hours from EN51sx.
I’ll pack up from EN51sx at about 1900Z and rove around the Chicago
4-Corners area for the rest of the contest.
Bands will include 100W 50 (Loop), 125W 144 (Loop), 25W 223.5 FM (4 el &
vertical), and 75W 432 (10 el & loop), 8W 903 (3 el or 6 el), & 135W 1296 (3 el
or 21 el) SSB or CW. I sure hope that the snow is not too deep and that I can
put up the portapol with the beams. I’ll also monitor 144.520 FM and 446.0 FM
(vertical) for extra contacts.
Best of luck to everyone in the contest,
Mike WB8BZK/R
