Up here in NLRS-land we have been somewhat busy with hosting this years
CSVHF Society conference, but we have not lost complete sight of this
weekends UHF Contest and our NLRS Rovermania III.

In 2003, this contest generated only 140 logs ...... I think this may have
been a low water mark. In 2004, the first year of Rovermania, we saw 169
logs. Last year, Rovermania II, there were 183 logs received. Is this
the year that we go over the 200 logs marked ? With your help, yes !

As you may know, the August UHF contest is a premier contest for roving as
the contest is limited to 222 and up (you can leave the huge 6m and 2m
antennas at home !), and its only 24 hrs long. During Rovermania we
practice no captured rovers, no "short range" QSOs, but lots of fun through
increased activity that only roving can bring to the bands. Rover to
rover QSOs over significant distances are not only encouraged, but
expected.

Check out the NLRS website at http://www.nlrs.org/#AugUHF_Rover, and click
on the Rovermania III (2006) link to see the rover activity that is planned
here in the upper Midwest. As of Monday, we have eight rovers (KC0IYT,
W9FZ, WA0VPJ, K9TMS, KF9US, K0PG, N0UK, and W0ZQ) listed along with two
portable stations (KF0Q, N0EDV). You and your club can do exactly the
same thing in your area ... support your local rovers.

Don't forget that the ARRL UHF contest & Rovermania III is just 24 hrs
long, August 5 (1800z) to August 6 (1800z), and is 222 and up. Get on the
air, full-time or part time, rover, portable, or fixed, and then send in
your log. The League DOES except paper logs as well as electronic .....
paper logs ARE OK.
