Some good interesting changes....Thanks for the link Tom. I have not been
following this.

Not sure about the 1 point for rovers. I dont want to discourage any
contacts. And the 2&3 point thing is a bit sticky since depending on
geography it is pretty much a given that if you can work a station one grid
away you can work a station 2 grids away. I think I would make it 3 grids
away. And what about the guys who are all in a crowded grid (me!) and just
one guy lives out in the boonies. He's going to win just by getting on... So
its a bit problematic. But interesting.

I do applaud the intent. Get people thinking about working distances again.
Rovers have reduced the weak signal work aspect of VHF contests*, though
they sure make the contest more lively and I love keeping track of them as
they scamper from grid to grid.. Their efforts are a definite big plus!

---
*why do I say this regarding rovers vs weak signal work?...Well ... send a
bunch of guys to the top of the hills with very very very marginal antennas.
(Yes a loop is a very very very marginal antenna) What are they going to do?
They can't hear the DX. They are just looking for locals... So I am very
happy to work them, but its like two different contests..This last June the
band was almost totally dead and one of the local rovers saw no difference
of 6 mtr contacts from the previous year...
