Something I suggested long ago for VUCC (and DXCC as well): The ARRL should allow contest contacts with stations who have submitted logs in ARRL contests to be applied to VUCC and DXCC, without the need to submit QSL cards. After all the ARRL has the log in their computer system somehwere already. The RSGB has just announced that they will now do this for? the IOTA award/contest.

"5) Encourage Logbook of The World development to be supportive of VHF+
awards, like the VUCC. Implemented in September 2003."

Four years later, you still can't apply for VUCC with LotW confirmed
contacts... but it was "implemented" four years ago?

(While the intent may have been to say that some internal development
effort was done/completed, it gives the impression that it really was
a completed project to use LotW for something useful... VUCC
submissions. I don't know what the "internal goal" was that promted
the "implemented" comment, but it has had zero effect on VUCC, four
years later.)

I sent some candid comments about LoTW to my ARRL Section Manager
recently, that basically said this: The only way to get widespread
support of LoTW long-term, is for ARRL to actually use the darn
thing... for their own operating activity awards and contests.

How many VHF'ers would submit logs to LoTW if it were required for
ARRL contests and awards? (I assume various logging software
packages would fairly quickly pick up automated submission to LoTW as
a feature they don't already have it -- if it were required.)

Oh well.
