The June, '87 VHF QSO Party is arguably one of the best overall VHF contests
for Es and tropo.

I was the primary 6M op at WB0DRL that year. 6M was open 'round the clock.
We worked 49 states (missed KH6) and ~ 20 countries. There was a big 2M Es
opening Sunday morning to W4 and the first ever 220 MHz Es QSO was made (not
by us!)

In addition - there was tropo all the way from central KS to W1 land. We
worked W2SZ/1 up through 432 MHz. We were short contest ops - so I had to
leave 6M to work the 220 MHz position Sunday morning. W2DRZ was 20 over 9 on
220 MHz tropo and W2SZ/1 was solid copy.

Had we worked 6M to the max - we would have beat W2SZ/1 for the top M/M that
year...
