[VHFcontesting] Looking for a 1.2 GHz antenna.

Both antennas have great gain. The argument for the loop Yagi (Directive Systems) has in part been wet weather performance. Water droplets on the ends of rod elements (the high impedance points) of a rod element (M^2) Yagi always detune it and this effect gets worse as you go higher in frequency. On the loop Yagi, at least when it's horizontally polarized, and that's probably what we're talking about here, water runs around the loop to the low impedance point and basically just runs off the element. People have often talked about "loops getting bent" as a down side of the loop design, I've never found this to be a problem, I've had a pair of 45el 23cm loops, a 47el 903 loop and a 45el 2304 loop at 120ft (+/-) in Maine for almost 20 years. they've been through ice storms, hurricanes, LARGE BIRDS, etc and still look and work perfectly.
