Hello, fellow VHF contesters-

This weekend will be the ARRL January VHF Sweepstakes. It is also the
first contest that features the new Rover rules, as implemented by the
Programs & Services Committee.

As the new Rover categories were announced just a few weeks ago, it is
unrealistic to expect the developers of the software programs to have
come up with the code to include these categories for this weekend's
event.

If you will be entering the January VHF SS as a Rover this weekend,
please do the following to indicate which rover category you are
entering:

1) If submitting your log electronically, indicate your category on the
"Soapbox" line inside your Cabrillo file.

2) If you will submit a paper log, PLEASE use the official ARRL form;
these are available for download at arrl.org/contests. Check the Rover
box under the Category area, and then just write what Rover category you
are entering next to the check box.

This procedure should only have to be done this one contest, as it is
hoped the software writers can implement the new categories by the time
the 2008 ARRL June VHF QSO Party comes around.

A summary of the new Rover categories can be found in the General Rules
for all ARRL Contests Above 50 MHz. This page is at:

http://www.arrl.org/contests/announcements/rules-vhf.html

Feel free to distribute this to anybody you think will benefit from this
information.

Good luck on the roads. Be safe this weekend. I hope to work some of
you.
