Hi Les, and the group. I wasn't able to participate in the contest
this weekend; but I was thinking about it while I was flying back home
to Miami Florida from Washington D.C.

I turned on the rig on Sunday and heard absolutely nothing on 6
meters, with the exception of a few locals.

But it was a great week for me, as part of my vacation, I went to
Newington CT and had a great time at ARRL HQ. I did get at one of the
operating desks at W1AW, and asked them to put me on 6 meters, but the
band was deader than a doornail. Sean (NX9X the contest branch
manager) even looked for me on the cluster and found no activity on
the band. So I moved over to 20 meters, called CQ a few times, and
had them point the antenna to the southwest and to Europe, but also
had no luck. I did however work a station in Ohio I believe, on the
back side, as well as another station in the Caribbean.

But it was great fun. My wife however, felt a little bored I guess,
after only about 3 or 4 hours that I had been there. I wonder why?
But she was born in nearby New Britain, and we drove there and saw her
hometown.

I've been licensed for 30 years, and never got around to submit my
cards for DXCC - but I did so earlier in the year, and hadn't received
the certificate. So I asked about it, and I was handed my certificate
by Bill, NC1L, the DXCC manager.

I also met up with Ray, N1TAI, who I met via the net, as well as a 6
meter qso.

Let me tell you; when I saw their towers and antennas, I felt that I
had a wet noodle compared to what they have!
