[VHFcontesting] 222 band module for FT-726R?

No 222 because it isn't an international band. Not enough sales volume for
something that they can only sell in the US. Notice that not long ago you
didn't see many rigs with 6 meters. I believe that 6 meters was mostly
confined to the Western Hemisphere then (I don't remember the ITU region
number). When many countries in Europe and elsewhere (including Japan)
started making 6 available suddenly just about every HF rig now has 6
meters. No 6 meters in the 910H because that would cannibalize their sales
of the HF and 6 meter transceivers!

I have heard rumors that Yaesu did make a prototype 222mhz module for the
FT726, and a few did get out into general circulation. I have never seen
one myself, but have heard a couple of people say they saw it.

Why can't Icom and Kenwood make optional 222 modules for rigs like the 910H
and TS2000 to fit in place of the 1.2g module. Icom really fell down by not
offering a 6 meter module for the 910H. A 6m/2m/70cm rig that did dual
receive would be great for VHF contesting.
