6 is not always dominant...
 
How quickly people forget. Last year 6 Meters stank - one of the worst
June contests for Es. We were blessed with good 6M conditions this year.
 
The ARRL has the UHF contest and 10 GHz contest focusing on
UHF/microwave & microwave bands. The September and January contests
don't have much Es usually so they are 2 Meters and above by default.
That leaves the June VHF QSO Party as the only ARRL VHF Contest
with widespread 6 Meter activity. And that will vary depending if there
is E-skip or not.
 
The multi-ops don't ignore the higher bands, even when 6 is open.
 
I would encourage those who are interested in 222 MHz and up to 
give the ARRL UHF Contest a try and submit a log this year.
