Think a little more about the Rovers.  I made many contacts while in motion and could not have even guessed what my 6 digit grid was.  Even at stops, unless it was one that I had planned in advance, I didn't know.  A distance based score would require purchase of a GPS that gives this information and that's not amateur equipment.  Its nice to have and not horribly expensive, but its not part of the requirements to be on the air.
