Hi all,

I did not mean to hi-jack Marshall's idea. A letter in place of a log is a good idea as well.

Paul wrote the letter to me and the reflector. If you notice the reflector e-mails are screened and released as the moderator has time, so they tend to back up. In this case a letter sent from Paul to me and the reflector is viewed by me several hours before its made a post.

I for one did not see any major discussion about EME rules anywhere until after a decision. I put this in context to the massive rover debates before a decision was made.

I think this just gives antidotal evidence that the system is broken because there is no formal or demonstratively reliable way to put the issue on the floor for everyone to hash out. Perhaps there was a certain amount of fear to do so based on the Rover debacle.

Lets face it the people put in the committees are not vetted by the general public for where they stand on the issues. They are put there because they participate in the activities. When they participate in the activities and make the rules and then win, there is a major conflict of interest.

The PSC and VUAC should only be allowed to submit check logs. The PSC and VUAC should be honored spots of those who competed or participated in the past. Such a position should get a lifetime membership for their service to the committees when selected for the jobs and hold them for X number of years.

Now that’s a way to build an honorable contest system. I’m sure there is other ideas as well. Lets just quit having foxes awarding themselves chicken catchers of the year when they hold the keys to the hen house.
