All I am wonder is if anyone has tried this on anything above 30MHz and
found it useful.

Would it be a viable mode to use during some contests?

I haven't tried it yet myself. No working lowfer (HF) bands currently.

Non-proprietary!  Runs under either Linux or one of the
MS versions of windows, cool.
