OK you say, we will just ban EME contacts in such a contest. Well that
certainly files in the face of a distance measured contest. We want
people to work hard to make difficult, long distance contacts--just not
TOO long distance!!

Not a problem Marshall. As there are plenty of EME-specific tests, simply make it a terrestrial contest. If the rules for a distance-measured contest disallow EME from day-one, there should be no complaints. While potential contest sponsors are at it, maybe they should also consider only allowing 'traditional' meteor scatter modes (CW, SSB). I love operating WSJT but, in my opinion, it's just too damn easy. A large helping of 1200-1400 mile digital M/S contacts has the potential to 'hijack' the results of a distance contest the same way EME does.

Actually, I would say the distance calculation for ANY EME Q is right around 550,000 miles. Plug THAT into your distance based scoring engine !
