 I never understood why the manufactures never made a DIN or Double DIN mount rig that would go right in your dashboard.  Now with the Death of CD's and the birth of MP3 players a DIN mounted rig could also be the car's stereo.  or a double Din mounted rig could be the stereo and GPS unit as well. Right now the closest thing to this is a Double din PC mounted in the dash and a remote controlled radio.  With the focus on hands free all of this could be blue tooth.  

 

Why can't they make a rig that is family friendly when installing in the car?  There is a market of guys out there who can't get on because of this.
