[VHFcontesting] FLEX-1500 SDR Platform

Unfortunately, at least in my case (I am almost 100% cw op, have a 1500 now, ordered early adopter, shipped early adopter, and is now running 2.0.16 on a dedicated machine) there are CW transmit problems that currently exist in 2.0.16 (in my experience, basically chops off the first 50-100 milliseconds of CW transmit when going into TX), but I am assured (and confident) this will be fixed in some upcoming later release. In the meantime, it's been a fascinating tool to help a local friend characterize a homebrew beam antenna (as he rotates, I record signal level with very good resolution), so it's clearly going to be a very handy part of my station going forward.

The newest beta (2.0.16) supposedly fixes (or at least significantly improves) CW performance from what I've seen on the Flex lists. I don't operate CW so I have no first-hand experience with it other than the built-in keyboard keyer. The sequencing issues seem to have been addressed in this beta as well.

CW transmit using internal (iambic) or external (key/keyer) has timing problems awaiting a software release I've been told is due in December (2010). If CW transmit is important to you, I'd check carefully before committing right away.
