Mike ponders for discussion and not trolling for flames.

I see two other possibilities but both can be problematic as well, but
does not require the investment of another "station" in your vehicle.
It can be used with the simplest of smart phones and with used
inexpensive phones available and $45/mo service from WM on a month to
month basis ... not too expensive. For the home station pick up a
used netbook and just leave it open to your email account during the
contest period.

1) Email reflector <like this one> where you can post a simple message
every so often. This requires a little training like ... do not reply
to a message and clutter things up. If you have something to post
like you're moving ... make it a new message so its easy to read at a
glance and you don't have to go through a bunch of reply headers

2) Twitter ... Set up a twitter account strictly for your contesting
activity, again same message. This requires "everyone" setting up a
twitter account and some may not want to like I refuse to have a yahoo
account.

I want a government small enough to fit inside the constitution.
