[VHFcontesting] Disappointed about January contest

Tom,

CW on 6M for us in the US is just below 50.100, since the "DX window" is
50100 to 50125 and we should stay off that piece. 
19 of my Q's and 4 of my grids on 6 were CW contacts. Every time I tuned
down I could hear some activity there, but I think there is a higher VHF
station population density here than where you are.

And 6 of my 2M grids were on CW; weak contacts that I would not have worked
if on phone.

I did hear K5ER on 6 - he was trying to work a W3.  Yelled at him a lot, but
nothing...

In retrospect, I take it that monitoring 50.125 is a good idea to see if the
band is open?
Copied a few beacons from MN, but I am not sure what the CW calling
frequency is.  From the look of the cluster spots, everyone operates only
phone?
