[VHFcontesting] 2016 ARRL UHF Contest Cancelled

Did ya'll read the announcement CAREFULLY ??  It appears not all did.

It DID NOT say the UHF contest was definitely cancelled forever ! 

It said that after many comments received from members (sounds like it meant
UHF contest participants) including hot time of year for participants and
event is too close on calendar to other VHF-UHF events (Sept VHF contest and
July CQWW VHF event) that the VHF Revitalization committee recommended that
the contest should be cancelled for this year. 

It went on to say "while the committee continues to study the possibility of
redesigning or replacing the August UHF Contest with a similar event at
another point in the calendar - possibly in the spring - for 2017"

This decision caught me by surprise as well. Though I conduct the NCJ and
QST VHF columns, I was unaware of the ARRL UHF contest cancellation until
reading it here. 
IF you disagree with this decision, one option is to contact your ARRL
Division CAC member. A list is here:
