That wasn't that clear,.. I guess what I'm saying here is if you replaced the 290 with a multimode HF/VHF/UHF rig (something like an FT100 or similar) you could have 6,2,432 and 50 watts on 2 and not need to modify or replace the Mirage.. plus have the other bands..

Dave, I'd seriously consider replacing the FT290R too.. It would be more money out of pocket (maybe) but you could add more bands in the same box and have a MUCH more modern rig than the old 290 (which was quite a step forward back in it's day 35 years ago,.. BUT...)..

Easiest fix is to find another amp with 3-5w in and 20-30w output. Or just find an amp with the lower input and sell or shelve the 3016
