[VHFcontesting] Date for January VHF contest

The real question is why its not between the AFC / NFC  championships and the Superbowl, like it used to be before the league added another week of football?
Damn silly to not slide it a week to increase participation.

I'm just curious is there a historical reason why there is not a fixed date for this contest ?  I expect I'll be asked this question at a presentation I am giving regarding contesting.   Any thoughts would be appreciated.
