I am not familiar with the 9700 but I wonder if the W1GHZ 222 transvertet
for the FT817 can be made to work on it? 222 is a great band and even with
10 watts as a Single Op Portable in contests I work everyone I can work on
144 and 432.

...if this is a SDR based direct-sampled radio, there is absolutely NO
reason why they could not have a software load for the US/Canada market
that allows the radio to operate on 222 MHZ ! Maybe they would have to add
an extra filter or something, but I doubt it would be anything major that
they couldn't of worked out during the initial design phase.
