Participation here in Florida was probably at a 30+ year low. Not only for the contest, but for daily activity. Rather discouraging.

Subject: [VHFcontesting] ARRL September Contest

All,

Well we may have set a record for the lowest score ever for us!  Here in
EM84 there was basically no propagation.  Saturday night there were very
few rocks so limited meteor scatter activity.  And the  lightning strike
that took out the 222 LunarLink and the AZ/EL rotator control box on the 2m
EME station just added to the fun.

In spite of all of the angst surrounding the digital modes and VHF
contesting I can truly say that for this contest, absent the digital modes
there would have been no contest at all.  Time for the VHF contesting
community to get over that one and move on.  The digital modes are a very
welcome addition to the VHF contesting toolkit.  Yes, there are some issues
for the multi-multi stations like how do you run the bands on the digital
modes but we will get that figured out.

Just curious to know how other parts of the country fared.  On the ON4KSt
Chat page, even our colleagues in the Northeast with their population
density advantage  seemed to be struggling.

There is always January for some of us, and then June.
