[VHFcontesting] FW: [Trouble Ticket #281] NA VHF Rover Stations Listed as EU in ADI File for ARRLVHF Contests

Did you ever note that an N1MM+ ADI file, generated by using one of the standard N1MM+ contests (i.e. ARRLVHFJAN, ARRLVHFJUN or ARRLVHFSEP), reports that Rovers, using the standard “/R” suffix, are logged as being in CONTINENT=EU and not in NA?  Surprised me so I filed a trouble ticket.

 

The N1MM+ Team states that the R is PREFIX for Russia and I totally agree but every Rover in the USA and Canada (maybe other countries too) use the /R as a SUFFIX.  I believe that in virtually every country except Canada (due to a special 1952 reciprocal agreement), a USA operator operating in Russia would sign with the PREFIX  “R/” followed by HISCALL (Not with the suffix /R).

 

In any event, I have been told that this VHF issue will not be fixed (See the thread below. I removed the N1MM+ troubleshooter’s call since that team usually does a wonderful job.).  Anyone know if the CONTINENT attribute from an ADI file is used by programs like DXLabs or Ham Radio Deluxe when an ADI file is uploaded to those programs?

/R is the prefix for Russia and explains your observation.

In VHF contests Rovers are logged with the "/R" suffix.  When using the ARRLVHFJUN Contest setup, North American Rover stations (i.e. WB8BZK/R) are listed as "CONTINENT: 2>EU" instead of in NA in the ADI file.  I am not sure what LoTW does with this continent data but I don't want to corrupt my LoTW data with the incorrect Continent information.  I suspect that this may also a problem for other VHF contest ADI files where Rovers are logged with the /R suffix.

I used the ARRLVHFJUN contest setup for the Spring and Fall VHF Sprints since it generates an appropriate Cabrillo and ADI file for the VHF Sprints.  Other participants may use the ARRLVHFJAN or ARRLVHFSEP setup.

It appears that N1MM+ interprets the "/R" as a European Russian station and assigns it the EU continent in the generated ADI file.

My work around has been to edit each ADI file for VHF contests by changing the EU to NA before uploading to LoTW.
