I "retired" my 251As and 471A with an IC-9700 last month.  BIG difference
in performance.  Worth the jump.

Re: ACC connector -- a few of locals with 9700s were lamenting that not
only is it one ACC connector, but it's only one PTT signal out!  That means
it keys all your amps regardless of what band you're operating.

Band data (freq)  is available if the CI-V port is interrogated.  This can
be done easily with Arduino, which can then route the PTT signal to the
appropriate band-specific accessories.  That's been demonstrated to work
on a few radios around here.  Same idea has been employed on the IC-7300
for band-selection-driven HF antenna switching, handy when remotely
operating the 7300.

With the exception of 1296, I've retired my amps for the moment as well.  I
may re-employ them later, so as to save the expensive finals on the 9700
some stress.
