Hello Pete
That was a great exercise, and I was surprised at the result. In the
past, all the VHF/UHF activity was in the NYC-Philly metro areas. Now,
it seems that activity is slowly shifting out of there. I am not sure if
it is improving in New England, or just dropping in NY, NJ, & PA? Note
that OH, VE3, & WPA area far outstripped the NYC Philly area!! That is
amazing. VA and MDC tied NYC & Philly as well! Heck, CA and NV beat out
NYC!
I do know that having a 222 activity night has helped with 222 activity
here in New England. My hope is that with consistent results for Tuesday
evenings, others might be enticed to get their rig out of mothballs or
make an entire setup from scratch, to partake of the fun on Tuesday
nights. I can't further explain the New England activity. I think fewer
VHF ops here have moved away! I worked a bunch of stations and had
three of them northeast of me! That is a good sign. K1DY, N1BUG, and
KV1J were well appreciated.
Looking forward to winter, I doubt that I can keep up a presence on 222
then. It gets pretty ugly up there by Dec 1st.
