Tomorrow is Tuesday and Tuesday is the old reliable night where you can
make contacts on the 222 MHz band with other VHFers who have 222 MHz
gear. I have been working quite hard to get my old station updated into
the 21st century. I am automating band switching for the whole station
to allow all bands to be worked from the same HF radio. It gets sticky
when the lower bands have split IFs ( RX plus a TX line) while the
upper bands were all made up with single IF lines. I need a bunch of
coax relays installed. Then there are the multiple antenna switches
that must be located all in one place. It is slow going but rather
rewarding as I go along. The entire 144 station has been ripped out of
the other building, leaving a big hole in the relay rack as the PA and
driver amp plus a few power supplies were taken out. Maybe I can put
the ten meter PA in its' place. The ten meter PA is somewhat of a brute.
It takes up quite a big area in the rack. The work never ends!
K1DY was on from FN54 in Troy, Maine. He made lots of contacts too. Troy
is the home of the Troy General Store, located on US Route 202. I
always loved going into that place as they literally had everything. The
greased up skidder chains are on the shelf just below the Cheerios. You
can buy your own cute pet lobster, but most people choose to simply boil
them in a pot and eat them.
CU on 222 on Tuesday!
