[VHFcontesting] Is FT8 Really the Problem with VHF Contests?

Roger.  A 20 year old PC may not be a good choice but there are lots of older store bought equipment that still do well.  Heck, I finally sold my last two IC X75s last year.  To me they were my 57 Chevies.  They were over 30 years old.  They live on.
