[VHFcontesting] The April 1 222 MHz Activity Night

Hello 222 fans,

I was not sure how to deal with an activity night that falls on April 
1st.  If you show up on 222 MHz this evening you will find out. I 
suspect that a few snappy jokes might ensue.

The plan is to show up after dinner and try to work a few stations on 
our  favorite under utilized VHF band. I hope to be on 222.100 shortly 
before 2300UT looking for QSOs.  The weather here has been awful with 
temps right around freezing and at one point we had over 1/2" o ice on 
the guy wires.  I am not sure what condition the antennas are in. 
Hopefully things will still be working, but you never know.  On Sunday 
evening we went out and noted that there was no ice anywhere but on the 
high ground where I live. I drove about two miles and the ice was gone 
and the ground was bare! That makes me worry about the hilltop, which is 
200 ft higher than my house.  It could be bad.  I will find out this 
evening!

After three or four days of rain, sleet, freezing rain and constant fog, 
things have cleared out and the snow is melting fast .  Don't forget to 
check ON4KST Chat (144/432 Region 2) I am hoping to catch a little DX 
today.  there could be some meteor activity and the Moon will be up and 
setting as the night wears on. At 2300 UT the Moon will be at  about 45 
degrees and almost due West. It sets at  0300 UT to the NW.  I plan to 
make some noise on EME this evening.  If you do not see me on the KST 
Chat page, I am most likely on HB9Q 222 MHz Chat. I try to monitor both, 
but sometimes my reaction time is a bit slow.

So shine up your 222 MHz elements and wash off the dust from your coax 
and get on 222 MHz for a fun evening.  CU there.
