You sure can dredge up signals, Ron. I heard KA1OJ, but missed WA2LTM
and N3ITT. I never heard them. I had some Moon time and worked a few
via the EME route: VE6TA (AB), W7JW (MI) , K3SK, and W6TCP (CA). I
listened for K3SK on the direct path and never heard a peep. KA2ENE had
me try three modes early on, and we worked on CW, FT8, and SSB. SSB was
a bit tough as signals were weak all around. WA3DRC was very weak up
here and I think the QSB was pretty steep. KC2KAE was wrkable with his
25 watts, so it wasn't a horrible propagation night. WA3EOQ showed up
after 9 PM, and I tuned to 222.090 for his sked with WA3NUF. I heard
some strong CW and I thought it was Phil in Philadelphia, but he was
sending FM0i9! It was Howard and he was 559. He signed off with WA3NUF
and I called him, but he came back to WZ1V, so I stood by and his signal
was getting weaker and weaker. When Ron was done, Howard was qjuite weak
but still copyable. I would say 329. I was not getting 100% copy. It was
more like 35%. Still, we completed quickly, but I was amazed at the
starting signal strength. I ended up with 26 stations worked. My last
EME contact was with W6TCP and I had about 2 degrees of Moon left when I
called him. He barely copied me and we finished with about 1 degree
left. I listened and heard loud echoes then and I copied echoes up to
about -0.4 degrees. Earlier in the evening, my echo was nowhere to be
found here. It was an interesting evening.
