Conditions sort of sucked down here in snow country in south central Virginia. I heard nothing out of New England, or any other place for that reason. I did manage to work/log 2 FT8 qsos though.

Hello VHFers

I would definitely echo GB Ron's assessment of the Tuesday night activity. It was awesome with 28 QSOs with 27 different stations and I missed a few stations that Ron worked. I am going from memory, but have the following list: KA2ENE FN13, WW1Z FN42, N1SV FN42, WA3NUF FN20, K1PXE FN31, WZ1V FN31, W1TR FN31, WA1MBA FN51, N1YCQ FN41, KD2LGX FN13, W9KXI FN12, WA4YA FN42, KA1OJ FN42, K2AEP FN32 with higher power!, W2BYP FN13, WA3DRC FM28, WB2SIH FN31, VE2XX FN25, W1GHZ FN34, W1AIM FN34, KC3BVL FN20, WA3EOQ FM09, W2HRO FN20, N1ROZ FN32, W1AUV FN32, W2KV fN20, and KC1V in FN31. I worked WB2SIH on FT8 as well as CW. I tried a MS attempt with KK4MA for about ten minutes. He is in EM93 at 835 miles but I heard nothing during the short ten minute sked. The Geminids are coming up and I hoped I might hear something. Oh well, 27 Qs on 222 on a Tuesday in December is really fine and thanks to all who got on.
I'll bet you all wanted a crack at the weekend in a lean to tent at
10,740 ft at the mud spa in Colorado. I can't wait to see who is the winner.

These past few days I have tried to work W2HRO via the EME route. Each time, the Moon was rising and about at 40 to 55 degrees elevation. I tried for two nights and both times, my echo was not there or very very weak. Usually I hear the return echo quite steady and loud. I was surprised to go over two hours with almost nothing heard. I never did decode W2HRO. I suspect his signal from NJ was also coming back cross polarized. On each sked he copied me with rather weak signals at times.
I am wondering if that position is NG due to the polarization effects from the path to and from the Moon at that particular spot in the sky.
It seems strange to have identical condx on both nights. My antenna is fixed polarization, which can be a big bad deal on 222. In the past I was never skunked for very long. This time I was! I was so worried about the lack of success that I brought the array down to the horizon and aimed at W3CCX beacon. At first it was inaudible, I panicked but then it rapidly came above the noise to levels that seemed normal. So strange things happen on the bands and that is what makes it so darn interesting. W2HRO and N1AV in Arizona worked each other in a few minutes last week with great signals each way. Paul W2HRO was running a
4 meter dish and 300-400 watts. One of these days, things will line up (I hope!) Thanks to all who made it on.
