I am sorry that I missed you Howard. I quit and turned stuff off around
the exact time you showed up!  That is too bad as I did not accomplish
much in terms of difficult contacts last night. Working that path from
FM09 to Maine and FN43 is a difficult one and always fun to try.  All of
the folks that I worked were near enough that each contact was easy.  I
was looking for K2CS in Western New York, but he never showed on the
chat page. I tried some CQs on CW, SSB and even FT8 looking West. I
worked KA2ENE on FT8 with good signals and Cousin Al, W9KXI on SSB out
there. I tried a MS sked with K9MRI and KK4MA. There was a small meteor
shower going on, the Ursids. I got a rather nice burst from Joe, K9MRI
that lasted about 10 to 11 seconds. It was loud and reminded me of the
old days when it seemed that meteors were better.  The sked with KK4MA
started out great. I heard two bursts but they were well off frequency.
I adjusted my RIT in hopes of getting a decode, but then the meteors
dried up. We ran for about 8 or 10 minutes.  That is the only problem
with MSK144....You need rather precise frequency accuracy.

Here is my log:

VE2XX was on but had PTT issues. When he finally got it fixed, I was
playing with meteors and missed his message on the chat page. Ten
minutes later I saw it but Stu had left the building! That was right at
about 0200 UT.  I listened and called W5EME via meteors, but heard nil.
That is a very long path.  Note that a few contacts are dupes on analog
and digital. WB2SIH, N1SV, and K1OR were duplicates.  The snow started
here in  mid afternoon and was in high gear at 23:00 when I left the
house to head up to the shack. When I left a bit after 0200 UT, the
scene was right out of a Currier and Ives Christmas lithograph. The snow
was fairly deep and hanging on every branch. The snow flakes were big
and falling fast! I surprised a large deer on the way down to the house,
and he ran right in front of my truck as I came out of the woods. All in
all, the evening really put me in a Christmas spirit.  Ho Ho Ho
