I plan on being there as well. My moonrise is 2302 UTC. I just finished some tweaking on the station, hopefully I tweaked the right direction. 😊

Subject: [VHFcontesting] Tuesday Night 222 MHz Activity and moonrise.
Hi VHFrs
The night looks great for some 222 mHz activity, and in addition, the Moon makes an appearance here starting at 22:30UT which is about when I tend to get QRV for the local activity. That is 6:30PM here on the East Coast. The Moon is at a good spot with no degradation at all, so this is the best time to try to hear something via the moon. Here are some Moonrise times:
WA3EOQ FM09 2305 UT Oct 7 Western MD
K9MRI EN70 2320 UT Oct 7 Indiana
KF0M EM17 0020 UT Oct 8 Kansas
WQ5S EM13 0030 UT Oct 8 in Texas
W0VB DN74 0040 UT Oct 8 Wyoming
W6TCP CM97 0200 UT Oct 8 California
These times should let you know when ur Moonrise is within a few minutes.
I will be on starting about 2230 UT but will not look on the Moon unless someone asks for a try early on. I will be working terrestrial signals within range then. The local 222 activity slows down at 0045 or so and I will then be on EME at 222.085 Q65B-60 2nd sequence. I use CFOM (constant freq on Moon) so should show up at 1500 to 1600 Hz on the waterfall. It has been awhile since I made a single yagi QSO on a rising Moon. Tonight will be a good time to try. Check in to the HB9Q chat page for 222 EME messages.
In other news, My local new ham neighbor KC1YBG has just passed his general class license and is all fired up. So far he has collected an old Yaesu twin TX RX set FR-101 and it is working. He scrounged a good Dementron HF tuner too. Now to get some sort of tower set up for him.
He is excited.
So mark your calendar tonight for 222 MHz activity. The 222 Activity committee has deemed that the stations who work K1PXE and WZ1V will be put in a drawing for a set of Texaco drinking glasses. CU tonite!
