Hello VHF & UpContesters!

Ken, K2WB asked me to pass along the following plans for the ARRL September
VHF Contest next weekend - 9/13 to 9/15:

W2EA (South Jersey Mountain Toppers ARC) will be operating from a
mountaintop in EPA approximately 20 miles north of CamelBack Mountain. This
year there will be a team of 14 operators with a mix of Packrats and South
Jersey Radio Association members.

This group is actually a club known as the South Jersey Mountain Toppers
ARC operating as W2EA. Since 1994 this group has been going to this
location in FN21kh for the ARRL September VHF Contest and has done quite
well every year.

I am not going to debate the FT8 conversation, we all have opinions, but we
can all agree that it certainly has enhanced the scores and grid counts. To
that end, it has been decided that our group will follow the protocol below:

At the top of every hour, we will go to Voice or CW on 6m and 2m. If no
contacts are made in 5 minutes the mode will be changed back to FT8 until
the next hour. Unless there is a schedule with a rover. Remember the
commandment, "Honor Thy Rover".

If you are looking for W2EA to run the bands, look for us at the top of the
hour and we will be happy to run the bands. This year we will have 6m
through 1.2 GHz and 10 GHz with scheduling. Our plans will be listed in the
W3SZ / K1RZ database.
