Dear fellow VHF enthusiasts,
I wanted to inform you all that, after last week and the dismal activity
that ensued on 222 MHz, that the clandestine but all knowing 222 MHz
Activity Committee has lowered the boom. I explained to them that I was
there calling and making contacts, but they needed to make an example
and I was chosen. It did not matter that I was on for the whole
evening. It did not matter that I made contacts on several modes to
include CW, SSB, FT8, Q65 and even my imagination. They were really
ticked off and have made me perform penance by turning on the faucets
and watering most of Maine and New Hampshire in an attempt to increase
the water vapor content of the atmosphere in the area, I have collected
several hundred feet of hose and several hose reels that I can pull
around the many counties here in New England. I have been advised that
it has to be a soaking shower and not some puny misting exercise. I have
started already and note that the work will pay off as humidity is
already rising, and some coastal tropo is possible along the New England
Coast for Tuesday evening. It isn't wide spread yet, but you must get on
and make plenty of contacts to convince the committee that I am working
hard at my new job. I will be in Coos and Androscoggin Counties this
evening and will hit Oxford on my way home on Tuesday for the Activity
night. Believe me, it is hard hauling that hose especially when it is
filled with water. My hands are getting that wrinkled look too.
Activity starts around 2300 UT on Tuesday night and stations congregate
around 222.100 looking for any and all contacts. Don't forget to let
the ON4KST Chat page know of your presence.
There will be more information as the appointed time approaches on Tuesday.
